Simply Pound Plus discount store invests in Octepos EPOS system for sales management
Located a short walk from London’s North Harrow tube station, Simply Pound Plus was launched by Shahid Iqbal six months ago. The discount store offers a wide assortment of goods, ranging from skin care products, hair accessories to cleaning agents, as well as crisps, biscuits and drinks. The store is popular already, catering for a niche previously unmet in the area. Customers can purchase numerous items at budget prices and will not find any other competing shop within easy reach of the busy parades at North Harrow junction.
From the start, Shahid has equipped the shop with an EPOS system. He trusted Octepos to supply a retail EPOS system. “I heard about Octepos and researched them on the internet. Octepos’ in-house EPOS system build team configured a typical retail EPOS system, consisting of touch screen tills with cash drawers, price or customer displays and barcode scanners. On site the installation team completed a complex cable infrastructure to connect front of house operations to back office management software. In addition, they gave training to the Simply Pound Plus team. “On the first day, all staff members received an explanation of the system and training on how to manage the till. It was brief because the system is really easy to use and to understand,” explains the owner.
“Until now, we have only used the system as a basic cash register. We started the business six months ago. Since the launching, we have been so busy with stock supply, account management and store space planning, that we have still not explored all the features incorporated in the system,” says Shahid.
However, the EPOS software also includes the Stock Control, Accounts and Customer Loyalty modules installed by default. They help retailers work more efficiently and effectively, through accurate information reports on stock movements, sales operations, and customer accounts, with historical data and future trade trends as well. “Now we’re up and running we will be making better use of the system’s full capabilities. We are expecting them to bring the business on again,” Shahid stated, noting the current transition within his business.
As regards the speed of the system, Shahid is very impressed with it, “I can modify the layout of the touch screen by myself, but also change prices, products or even add new ones in a simple way. I can scan a product, price it and sell it in moments. The data are instantly recorded and recognised from the very next product scan.”
Should an issue arise with the system, Shahid receives in-house technical assistance. “During the first week’s set-up, each time I faced with an issue with my POS till, I called the Octepos support service and they provide me with a quick and active help”. Issues can be resolved directly via remote access, or they are recorded and tracked in the Octepos call management system to ensure consistent and effective resolution. Delighted with the EPOS system, Shahid concludes, “They are very professional and, to date, everything is working well”.
